Posttraumatic Stress Symptoms, Anxiety, and Depression Among COVID-19 Survivors After Discharge from Hospital

Background: The coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic can lead to psychological issues; however, few studies have evaluated the mental health status of COVID-19 patients after discharge from hospital. Objectives: This study aimed assess survivors and determine risk factors associated with adverse outcomes. Methods: Through a web-based cross-sectional survey, data were collected 158 one month hospital using demographic information, Hospital Anxiety Depression Scale (HADS), Posttraumatic Stress Disorder Checklist for Fifth Edition Diagnostic Statistical Manual Mental Disorders (PCL-5). Data analysis was conducted in SPSS software (version 24) logistic regression modeling. Results: mean age participants 42.02 ± 10.56 years, majority male (58.2%) married (79.1%). According HADS, 32 (20.3%) 21 (13.3%) had anxiety depression, respectively. Using PCL-5, 45 (28.5%) experienced posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD) A positive history psychiatric disorders, substance abuse, smoking related anxiety, PTSD (P < 0.05). Conclusions: Based on results, it might be concluded that survivors, especially aforementioned groups, need more targeted interventions regarding during avoid COVID-19-related injuries.
